Alternative Devices

 

Staying connected to family and friends is important, especially as kids gain more independence.  But that doesn’t mean a smartphone is the only option! If your child only needs to call or text, a basic landline, "dumb" phone, or smartwatch can meet that need without introducing the risks that come with internet access, social media, and app stores. Please consider starting with a basic communication tool (see list and chart from ScreenSense below).

 

Classic Landline

We get it, no one uses landlines anymore! However, it's important for our kids to learn how to make calls, especially in an emergency. If you've already gone landline-less at home, consider a landline alternative.
