Delco Unplugged is a growing community of families in Delaware County, PA choosing to delay smartphones and social media for our children. 

 

Through a community pledge, we’re standing united against pressure to introduce this technology too soon.

• Delay smartphones until (at least) high school. 
• Delay social media until (at least) age 16. 

 

When the time is right to introduce a communication tool, try a basic talk-and-text phone or kid-safe watch. Check out our Alternative Devices page for some ideas!

What if my kid already has a smartphone?

 

That's okay! This is a zero-judgement zone. Many of us are navigating this in real time. Maybe you’ve made different choices, or are still deciding. That’s okay. All are welcome, no matter where you're starting from.

 

This is a community for anyone who wants to better understand how smartphones and social media are changing childhood and how to raise kids who are independent, confident, focused, and resilient. Many of us are also reflecting on our own tech use and looking for ways to reclaim attention, connection, and well-being in our own lives.
